NoteWorthy Kidz has been Incorporated through the New York State Department of State.  We
    are currently working toward filing for our 501(C)(3) nonprofit status with the Internal Revenue
    Service.

    NoteWorthy Kidz will be governed by a board of directors comprising about fifteen members.  
    Initial members will be chosen by C. Scott Heller, James Brown III, Elizabeth Herrell, and Laurie
    Palmer and will represent the following areas of the community:
  • Educational (teachers, administrators)- 2
  • Leaders in the arts community- 2
  • Leaders in the music community- 2
  • Business leaders- 2
  • Child Services- 2
  • Parents (school age children from the Schenectady area)- 2
  • Community (interested individuals not involved in the above areas)- 2
    There will also be a rotating board position that will change every quarter and will be
    represented by the PTO President of one of the schools that NoteWorthy Kidz is working with at
    that time.

    Initial board members include Martha Asselin, Associate Dean for Student Services at SCCC
    and Steve Aldi, owner of The Rhythm Section in Scotia and prominent area musician.  The
    board of directors will be a working and giving board, serving either a one, two, or three year
    term.  The board will offer direction on the growth and vision, community interaction, and
    organization of NoteWorthy Kidz through the following committees:
  • Executive Committee
  • Finance Committee
  • Fundraising/Community Relations Committee
  • Governance/Program Committee


                                        Staff

    Elizabeth Herrell- Executive Director

    Elizabeth Herrell brings to NoteWorthy Kidz over six years experience in the communications
    and development field.  In her position with the New York State Community Action Association
    (NYSCAA), Elizabeth handled all logistics for NYSCAA events, marketing, fundraising,
    sponsorship, design and layout of NYSCAA publications and the coordination and management
    of a state-wide Community Food and Nutrition Program Grant.  Prior to that Elizabeth served as
    the Administrative Assistant for one year following a brief tenure as a temporary employee
    assisting with the NYSEG Power Partner Program.  While with NYSCAA, Elizabeth helped
    organize a state-wide fundraiser and benefit concert for the victims of Hurricane Katrina that
    successfully raised over $250,000.00 in donations of money and necessary supplies.  Elizabeth
    was able to secure delivery of these donations from a local trucking company that donated two
    trucks and two drivers to transport the goods to the Community Action Agencies in the states of
    Louisiana and Mississippi.  Before going to NYSCAA, Elizabeth held various positions in the
    Administrative and Retail professions.  In her spare time, Elizabeth enjoys watching live bands
    and learning new design software to better her marketing skills.

    C. Scott Heller- Associate Director

    Scott Heller is a certified elementary school teacher working as a substitute in the Schenectady
    and Schalmont School Districts.  Scott brings two years of teaching and over fifteen years of
    retail and managerial experience to NoteWorthy Kidz.  Scott played the Baritone Horn in the
    South Colonie School District Band, and was chosen for many Suburban Council and New York
    State Band Ensembles.  He currently plays rhythm guitar and appears occasionally with his
    blues/R&B band Deep Blue Storm.  Scott has four children ranging from four to twenty years old
    and lives in Schenectady.  Scott sincerely looks forward to the opportunity to mentor school age
    children in playing the guitar and sharing his love of American music, especially the blues!

    James Brown III- Associate Director

    James Brown III was born in Chicago IL.  After getting his first drum set kit at the age of 4, he
    taught himself to play.   When he moved to Tennessee at the age of 12 he joined the middle
    school band, where he learned to read music.  James was a Tennessee all-state percussionist
    during high school.  He has played in many bands and has played many styles of music
    including; rock, hard rock, R&B, country, soul and most recently the blues.   He takes musical
    inspiration from Buddy Rich, Steve Gadd, Phil Collins, Simon Wright, and Neil Peart.  James
    was an active member of the Coors Lite U.S. Water Ski Show Team for three and a half years.  
    He has been involved with the Scotia-Glenville Little League and Babe Ruth for eight years.  For
    the past six years, James has served as a leader for Boy Scout Troop 62.  He is also involved
    with the Scotia Glenville School District, offering assistance with their theater and music
    productions.    James Brown III currently lives in Scotia, New York.
